I'd ask Samsung on how to properly disconnect (and remove it). Some are removable!

You can turn the ice maker off at the top of refrigerator where the controls for temp are located. On mine you want the icon that is a glass with words 'no ice' showing.

Make sure that the ice maker is turned off using the button on top.
