• I WOULD REPLACE WITH STAINLESS IT'S FLEXABLE AND THE OLD COPPER OR PLASTIC IS NO GOOD COPPER BENDS TOO EAST AND PLASTIC CUTS EASY.

• Yes tap water are potable all new line to filter the h2O,just incase you forget to drain a gallon of water are your first ice cubes.

• I know that if you want the Best Buy delivery team to hook up the water, you need to purchase a new kit. This is standard with most companies for liability and reducing return trips needed. If you want to do it yourself, yes the connections are universal.
