O would say not to use it on a gravel surface total destruction to unit

It also has a hard plastic auger that could crack or chip. I have used mine when there are small to medium chunks of ice. It has no problem discharging them a fair distance with no damage to the auger blade. I hope this is helpful.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The opening is big enough so it won't clog depending on size of gravel it picks up. I would avoid this thrower in general because the part where snow shoots out is attached with a small screw on one side. The force of the snow alone will cause it to come off and snow will shoot up. I returned after 2 minutes of use. Best for very light snow maybe 2 inches. I was only using for 10 inches, even though it's rated for 18.
