  • QuestionMine were installed yesterday and today when it rained they automatically turned off. Is this normal? I had Best Buy installed these.

    Asked by Commando08.

    • Answer Hi, Thanks for reaching out! It's not normal for your MAG6.1 system to turn off just because it rained. The speakers are designed for outdoor use and are weather-resistant. Since this happened right after installation, we recommend contacting Best Buy to inspect the system. I hope you found this information helpful. • QuestionHow far can the subwoofer and speakers be from the amplifier?

    Asked by John.

    • Answer Hi, Thanks for your question! The Sonance MAG6.1 system supports flexible outdoor installations, and the distance between the amplifier and the speakers or subwoofer depends on the wire gauge you use. Here are the recommended limits: Up to 100 feet with 18-gauge wire Up to 150 feet with 16-gauge wire Up to 250 feet with 14-gauge wire For best performance, use direct burial, 4-conductor speaker wire rated for outdoor use. The subwoofer can be connected anywhere along the speaker line and performs best when placed near the center of the speaker layout. I hope you found this information helpful. • QuestionCan I daisy chain the speakers or do I have to alternate left and right

    Asked by Tpa.

    • Answer Hi, Thanks for your question! The MAG 6.1 system uses a single 4-conductor wire for installation. All speakers, including the subwoofer, are wired in a daisy-chain configuration, alternating between left and right channels (left, right, left, right, and so on). I’ve included a link to the installation video as well as the instruction manual below. • QuestionDoes the subwoofer need to be plugged into a power source or just the amp?

    Asked by Blogan.

  • Questionwant to use speaker volume controller. Will this work with Mag 6.1 ? Don't want kids using sono's app to change volume. Volume controller will auto match impedance as says up to 4 pairs of speakers @ 4 ohms. any concerns? I Don't play music loud

    Asked by Chrisis.

    • Answer Hi, Thank you for your question! While an impedance-matching volume control could technically be used with the Sonance MAG 6.1 Outdoor Speaker System, we do not recommend it. The Sonos Amp delivers 125 watts per channel, which exceeds the typical 60-watt rating of most volume controls, leading to potential overheating, distortion, or damage. Even with impedance matching, manual controls can interfere with system performance. • Questioncan the amp be kept outside in the summer? in a cabinet?

    Asked by Roger.

    • Answer Hi, Thank you for your question. We do not recommend installing the Sonos amp in a location that would expose it to excessive heat, cold, water, moisture, etc. Installing the amplifier in a place that is open to outside elements could shorten the expected usable life of the Sonos amp. I hope this information is helpful! If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our California-based support team at 949-492-7777 and ask for Tech Support. • Questionhow long is the wire that gets hooked up to the amp?

    Asked by Leopold.

    • Answer Hi, Thank you for your question. The speaker wire is sold separately. We recommend choosing wire size based on the distance between the amp to the furthest speaker. Here are our recommendations: 18 gauge - For distances up to 100 feet 16 gauge - For distances up to 150 feet 14 gauge - For distances up to 250 feet As a best practice, we recommend 14/4 direct-burial speaker wire be used when installing the system. I hope this information is helpful! If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our California-based support team at 949-492-7777 and ask for Tech Support.
