Hi, Thank you for your question. The Sonance Medium Round Flex Brackets are designed as mounting guides to mark placement and secure the cutout in new construction. They don’t recess the speaker or change how much the speaker grille sits on the ceiling surface. Once installed, the compatible Sonance in-ceiling speakers sit nearly flush with the ceiling, with only the thin, paintable grille visible. I hope you found this information helpful.
