I have the ARC hooked up to Wi-Fi and it seems to recognize the Sub but not sure any sound is coming out of the Sub. I do not have the ability to hook up the Sub to Wi-Fi, will it work without being hooked up to Wi-Fi? Thank you! null

The Sonos sub needs wifi to work. That's how the arc and sub talk, and how it syncs audio.

On the sonos app, does it show the sub gen3 is connected to wifi?
Yes, it doesn't need to be hard wired to work.
But i believe all sonos products works though wifi. 
Maybe try to disconnect the sub and reconnect by the app.

The Sub must be connected to the Arc via a network connection. This would either have to be wifi, or with an ethernet cable. Please reach out to us if you need help with this at support.sonos.com
