Your roommate can just turn on Bluetooth on the Move and Bluetooth his music from his phone to the Move.

I don't so, but then again, I have not tried what you're suggesting. It looks to me however that it is dedicated to one function only, but I do believe you can play music on multiple speakers, just not two outlet sources.

Yes, you have to setup a separate location for the Sonos Move and then can listen to music through the Sonos app or Pandora, etc.
