There is a significant improvement in transitioning from a Bridge to a Boost. In fact, if you have a good WiFi network in your home removing the Bridge all together may improve your performance. Boost enables SonosNet 2.0 along with a host of other improvements over the Bridge.

Boost is the newer (and currently supported) product. Unlike Bridge it can placed into your network without having to be connected by wire to your router. All current Sonos products can be set up via a wireless mode.
