Sonos connect is the older product. The port is the new product. I strongly recommend going with the Port because Sonos will no longer have updates for the connect in the next few months. It will still work but will not be upgradable to the newest audio formats. Sonos currently offering a recycle program that gives 30% off for the new product. If you are just starting off I would strongly recommend the Port. I have had absolute reliability with all of my Sonos products ( 10 devices). I have been using Sonos since 2006. Sonos tech support is wonderful.

This means that it will not be compatible with Sonos App updates, you will have to continue to run the current app build in order to use the Sonos Connect.
