• As far as sound quality: the Sonos One SL is virtually identical to the Sonos One and also very similar to the original Play:1. The main difference between the Play:1 and the Sonos One SL is that the One SL has AirPlay 2 capabilities. AirPlay 2 allows you to stream music directly from your iPhone, iPad or Mac.

• The size and sound of the Play 1 and Sonos SL are almost identical. There are some minor cosmetic differences and the SL supports Apple AirPlay 2, which is the biggest difference for me between, the two.

• The Sonos SLs sound better than the Play 1 units. It’s an upgrade without the assistant (Alexa).

• I heard them both really couldn’t tell the sound difference but the Sonos sl you can stream music thru the ones you cant
