I have a playbar and was wondering if the next thing to add is a subwoofer or two Play 5. I primarily want to watch tv but like listening to music in the same room. I am presently listening to tv with mainly the center channel on my old surround wired null

I'd get the Sub next. I have one paired with a Playbar for our TV (small 15'X15' living room) and it sounds great. 

Have a Play:5 gen 2 in the same room. Def fills the room. 

May possibly add 2 Play:1s for surround down the road.

Go for the Sub. I love to FEEL movies/music and the sub does that. I use the Play5(s) for other rooms and use the sonos app to program them or put different music in different rooms etc.

I would recommend adding a subwoofer. Adding two sonos play 5 would be recommended as side/surround channels.

Since you have a Playbar, by adding a Sub and a pair of Play 5 you will end up with a very good surround sound system for watching movies or TV and also can play great music. No need for other speakers in that room. You can customize the room settings so when you play music the rear channels sound as a 5 channel stereo and for listening to the TV the rear co automatically a surround sound speakers.
