It's an enclosed speaker. I suppose you could custom-build something to mount it in the ceiling, but it does require power and at least for initial setup, you'll need a Cat-5 or better Ethernet cable. If you do custom-build something, make sure you can easily remove it to set it up again if you're WiFi ever changes.

Therefore, your soundstage would be severely skewed once the reflective high-frequencies were to bounce all over your floors and walls. This would cause unwanted time delays within your audio presence.
