OK i am addressing my own question. It turns out my old backup camera was the reason it looked so bad. I bought a new backup camera from Best Buy and it is a wonder to behold. I felt bad that i blamed the head unit Sony makes some good stuff and the mount for the screen is a very good mount. It can be adjusted almost any way you could think of. After it is installed it can be swiveled left and right tilted up or down. Before it is installed it can be slid left right ,up down , in or out. Some said it would not fit the 2000 Ford Ranger but if you have got the know how it will fit. Just buy 2 pieces of 1/8 inch thick by 2 inch by about 6 inch long aluminum.
