Removing them would probably be a bad idea. You need air flow around it to keep the internals cooled down.

Please try again later.I checked the bottom of my 1080 and there is a hole in the middle of the feet but I could not determine whether there is a screw holding the feet on. Regardless, I would hesitate to place this receiver in such a space without 3 to 4 inches of clearance on top for proper ventilation. This unit can get a bit warm and if your cabinet does not have enough air flow around the sides and top, you may do damage to this unit. Hope this helps!
