How do I connect the sub with the actual speaker? null

The answere is found in the instruction booklet. I had to turn off all wire devices and repeat the instructions several times

Other than the power cord, there is only one connection to be made : Plug the optical line cord into the "optical audio output" connection on the TV and the other end into the "optical audio input" on the speaker bar. Put the batteries in the remote unit and your done.

I don't even recall how I connected it. My recollection is that I plugged both the sound bar and the subwoofer each into a power outlet and connected the sound bar to the tv and turned it on and off once or twice. I think it connected itself. It was so simple that I can't recall that I did anything specific. Good luck.
