The price is 39.99 because of Black Friday discounts going on right now. It will not renew until 12 months AFTER it is activated. I get these for my kids xmas gifts every year around this time due to lower prices. If you have a membership already it adds another 12 months to the current account. (Example: you have 3 months still on a account, if you activate another 12 month card it will not renew for 15 months) You can also cancel account before auto renew or get new card at next sale. They may want to automatically charge you for subsequent years, but that won't be at the sale price, it will be the regular price. But, you can look for it to go on sale again next year, it usually does
