These are Dolby Atmos speakers intended to add a 3D sound experience in addition to your existing 2D surround sound field. They are meant to be hooked up to the Atmos or Heght connectors on the back of your receiver. They are placed strategically in several locations such as on top of your L/R front speakers, on the ceiling, or on your walls; this is dependent on your the room configuration. If you don't have Height or Atmos connectors on your receiver, then you likley dont have Atmos capability. You can, however use these as surround speakers, (I wouldn't because of their shape) hook them up to the surround connectors, and place them in your normal locations. Keep in mind there are a limited amount of movies that have Atmos encoding, but the inventory is growing.

Yes, you can use these speakers as surround speakers on your home theater setup, provided that your amplifier/receiver supports an impedance of 6 ohms and standard speaker wire connections. But to get the most out of these speakers, we recommend using them as a front high or Dolby Atmos enabled speakers. By installing the unit with the speaker faced towards ceiling, the effect of sounds coming from overhead can be obtained as the output sound reflects from the ceiling. This unit is designed to provide its performance as a Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker when installed on the front speaker horizontally. The SS-CSE’s compact profile makes it ideal to discreetly install on your existing speakers and walls. Whether you’re looking to upgrade to cinematic Dolby Atmos sound or simply extend your current surround experience, this versatile speaker will give you an all-encompassing aural upgrade. I hope this helps you, and thanks again for your inquiry! Best regards, Romeo
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Basically, Dolby Atmos is designed to put on top of Front Right and Left speakers to fire. Dolby Atmos is 3D whereas Dolby Surround is 2D. Also, if the movie or music doesn't playback Dolby Atmos, then use DTX Neural.
