“Can these work as rear speakers in a 5.1 non-atmos setup?”

Hi RyanH, thank you so much for your inquiry. Yes, you can use these speakers as rear speakers in a 5.1 channel setup. However, to get the most out of our SS-CSE Atmos speakers, we recommend using it as a Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker or a front high speaker with a Dolby Atmos-enabled amplifier/AV receiver. Yes . But buy atmos speakers to do that . Atmos cost you more .

Yes ! But why buy atmos speakers to a regular system. Regular speaker are cheaper. And the sound is better for anything you want to hear .
