There is a Google Assistant button on the remote to activate it. The microphone is in the remote. An LED lights up when it is listening. If it was constantly listening, the battery in the remote would drain faster. I didn't see any way in the menus to disable the assistant. If the microphone was in the TV, I'd be more likely to feel it was always listening. Since it is in the remote and has to have the button pushed, and lights up to let you know it is listening, I'd say it is not always on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Soccermom, We do apologize for the inconvenience. Remote controls that support voice search have a (Microphone) button or (The Google Assistant) button, and a built-in microphone. By speaking into the microphone, you can search for various content. As long as you don't press the Microphone button or Google Assistant button, the Google assistant will not turn on. Thank you, David Sony Social Media Team
