A:Answer I have Uverse service and find it quicker to use the Uverse remote to interact with the DVR recordings.
Nevertheless, using the IR Blaster capability, the two wired sensors were placed in front of the DVR where it receives the remote signals. When the TV is powered-up using the TV remote, you are prompted to hit the OK button (middle of the remote, in the middle of the circle of action buttons) to watch TV. Then you are prompted to hit the OK button again to view the recorded shows. I still use the Uverse remote to turn off the DVR but the TV remote can do it in the TV Menu when you select "Power (STB)".
To get to the Uverse menu using the TV remote, here is what worked for me:
While watching TV or a DVR show, press the "Action Menu". Then use the right arrow (next to the OK button) to reach the "Menu". Finally, use the down arrow to reach the "Home (Menu)"
