• Yes, you can disable the voice assistant. There is a procedure to unpair it from the tv. I read about it in the help section, press the help button and search the FAQ on the tv.

• As far I can tell, the tv is only listening when the voice button is pressed on the remote. The tv itself doesn't have a mic so it cant be trigged without the remote and that seems to only work one way...i.e. the tv cant enable the mic without you first pressing the voice button on the remote.
