“I would like to place the TV on a table that is 36 inches wide. Will that support the 43.5 inch wide TV, since the stand is only about 30 inches? Or does the table need to be at least as wide as the screen?”

I have placed my 49 inch Sony TV on a 30" wide TV cabinet . I strapped the base of the stand securely to the cabinet for safety. I have found theTV cabinet width does not need to match the width of the TV as long as the TV cabinet is not flimsy.
