Yes, but Direct TV will need to provide an extra input box if you want 4K television content. The good news is that the interpolation software on this TV is excellent for conversion to 4K display and if directv ever gets more than 4 lousy 4k channels, it might become worth it to get the 4k box. I didn't bother, but that doesn't mean I won't get 4k from them if they have more to offer.

The TV comes with an IR blaster that you'll plug into the TV and set in front of the DirectV receiver. It's supposed to read the commands from the DirecTV remote and transfer them to the Sony remote via a walkthrough test, but mine never fully recognized it. Could have just been my model of receiver.

This TV has plenty of HDMI inputs, which is what you want when connecting any kind of cable-box, DVR or satellite receiver for the best possible picture. Currently, unless something has changed... DTV, DISH and cable providers broadcast in 1080i for HD channels and 720p for their "SD" channels. This TV will automatically upscale all inputs to 4K.
