“Do the side HDMI inputs require additional space on the sides of the set? The 48 1/2" width will just barely fit in my space, as long as there doesn't need to be clearance for wires on the sides.”

No extra space required. Everything is nicely tucked away behind the screen. The HDMI ports are placed perfect. Had the unit for a few weeks now with 0 problems yet.

Please try again later.All the wires you need to hookup. behind the TV: RCA, or HDMI etc will comfortably fit behind the back of your TV and not interfere with your width limitation. If you want them to be totally out of sight you have a choice of Wiremold or fishing inside of wall or wire tying them onto your TV wall bracket
