Yes......and no. When you set up the TV it will walk you through that function as part of Sony's initial setup program. My cable remote does the most important functions I use every day but I have to use the Sony remote to access most menu settings. The setup program will input the codes from your Direct TV remote as you go so you can use the channel guide from Direct TV and most other functions right from the TV remote.
