It does have RVU capabilities. Like my Samsung TV, the Sony 55X850D is able to connect to the Directv Genie system, BUT, the ethernet network connection must be wired. The wireless connection will not suffice. I didn't know that the 55X850D had this functionality when I purchased the TV, but it is a bonus for me. The Directv genie "gateway" showed up in the list of inputs. If your TV has a wired network connection, you will be able to walk through the process of connecting to the Genie gateway receiver.

Yes it does. I don't use Direct TV but its there to use without any equipment if you have it.
