• Nope any standard HDMI cable works, but if you want 4k content from a ps4 pro or ultra hd player then you need the new HDMI which is usually included with the device your buying.

• If you want to utilize the 2160p you do need a newer HDMI cable that supports that output. Not many things output that resolution though besides new 4K blue ray players and current gen gaming consoles
