• Yes, you can shut the picture down and just have sound. Can't figure why anyone would want to do that...unless it saves the screen in some way.

• Hi HonneyBare008, the said technology is usually a feature of sound systems, especially with home theater systems. Most of the time, it applies when the content is from a disc or anything that comes from the home theater system that is being projected to the TV. Thanks, -Mark
