Hello! The X930D is Active 3D capable, has three times more contrast from Extended Dynamic Range Pro, and it has exclusive technology called the Slim Backlight Drive. Both are excellent for sports but if you are interested in them with deeper black levels and a brighter display, then the X930D is for you!

It's much better all the way around. I took back the 850d to get the 930d.

The 850D and 950D are equally good watching sports. The 850D would be a better choice if you were watching sports with many people as it has much wider viewing angle to do the panel type. For Blu Ray or anything else for that matter, the 930D is a much better picture.

Sports would be pretty equal on both as I have the 850D in my bedroom and the 930 in the living room. For movies though, hands down 930 with the superb backlighting in dark rooms/scenes.
