Hello! The X930D is Active 3D capable, has three times more contrast from Extended Dynamic Range Pro, and it has exclusive technology called the Slim Backlight Drive. Both are excellent for sports but if you are interested in them with deeper black levels and a brighter display, then the X930D is for you!

The 850D would be a better choice if you were watching sports with many people as it has much wider viewing angle to do the panel type. For Blu Ray or anything else for that matter, the 930D is a much better picture.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sports would be pretty equal on both as I have the 850D in my bedroom and the 930 in the living room. For movies though, hands down 930 with the superb backlighting in dark rooms/scenes.
