This does not indicate a defect nor does it affect the reliability or life of the product. Like most electronics that are used for long periods of time, TVs do overheat. This comes from many different factors. You should ensure that your TV has sufficient ventilation to avoid overheating. I hope this helps. Erin
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In 2008 I bought a brand new, 2008 Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV from BB. It always heated up my entire room. We use to joke that is was a tv and a heater. I was young and never thought much about it. It never gave me any problems, the screen clarity is awesome like the day I bought it but the heat would get really annoying, especially in the summer. Now, amost 14 years later, it still works and looks the same as the day I bought it! Today I just decided to look it up because we are concerned about how much electricity its using to cause that much heat and I JUST READ SOME BRAVIA'S have caught FIRE! It's been in my daughters room for the last 3 years! So am I suppose to throw out a perfectly good TV? I can't afford a new TV right now and I don't want to sell a fire hazard to anyone.
