Hi plasmaguy, thank you for your question. You can connect your cable box to the TV as long as it has the same corresponding port such as HDMI. To get full 4K experience, both devices must support 4K and using a hi-speed HDMI cable is required. In addition, if you are using DIRECTV app, we're sorry, but it is not currently possible to install the DIRECTV app onto this A80J series as of the moment. You can only download apps compatible with your TV, and they may differ from apps for mobile devices. The Google Play on the Android TV or Search for apps on the Google TV, only display apps that are supported by the TV. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-55a80j/articles/00114472 You can use the built-in Chromecast feature to cast the content from the DIRECTV app on your mobile device to the TV. For instructions, visit the link below. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-77a80j/articles/00135368 Lastly, PS3 doesn't support 4K. If you would like to enjoy 4K gaming experience, you might consider upgrading to 4K HDR consoles such as PS4 Pro or PS5. I hope this helps. Erin
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sorry my English: If you want full 4k oled experience you will need a 2.0 or better 2.1 hdmi cable. For example ps5 come with 2.1 hdmi cable. For you dvr I’m not sure if support 2.0 or 2.1 hdmi cable just call direct tv . If you want the best for video games ps5 support 2.1 hdmi and vrr make it best for graphics and everything.
