I tried 3 of my bluetooth devices. It worked for all.
a cheap and old motorola headset as well as costly JBL charge 3.
Did you try 'Add Device' option on Settings>Bluetooth 

Are you able to use voice search over remote which means bluetooth is enabled.

I don't see anywhere in the specs that it does? Did you read them before buying it?
