“My husband uses headphones connected to our current Sony tv. I still have sound even though his headphones are plugged in and he controls his own volume. Is this tv able to comply to our needs?”

Yes, I regularly turn the TV volume all the way down when I'm using the surround sound system that is also run from the television.

The TV cannot output sound both from TV speakers and headphones at the same time.
