Yes, the ATSC 3.0 tuner is indeed worth mentioning in any new television in 2020 where it is available. Not all TVs in 2020 are shipping with ATSC 3.0, but Sony reports this one is. In the 2020 lineup, it appears LG and Samsung are only offering this new tuner technology in their higher end models. So this mid-range model by Sony is unique in that respect. ATSC 3.0 is also referred to as the next generation broadcast standard that was approved by the FCC. Unlike ATSC 1.0 (which became the television broadcast standard in 2009) (HDTV), this next generation tuner technology will enable the television to display 4k broadcasts (via over the air/broadcast television) as broadcasters adopt the new standard. The roll out will be slow, but (prior to COVID-19), it was announced that some stations (in the top 40 identified US markets) stated that they will begin broadcasting this new standard by the end of 2020. Please keep in mind, ATSC 3.0 is a voluntary, which means not all broadcasters may participate in the future. But given the level of reported interest, it appears many broadcasters will eventually adopt the standard. Televisions without the new ATSC 3.0 tuner will not be able to receive new 4K broadcasts (as they become available). So any current television (without this new tuner) will only be able to receive any future 4K broadcast signals with an external tuner. And most likely, that would only apply to newer TV sets. You can read more about this next generation broadcast standard (aka ATSC 3.0) in a number of articles published online. I am a cord cutter and broadcast enthusiast so this new tuner technology is important to me. I hope this feedback helps others in some way.
