You can use an Iphone or an Android smartphone to connect to the unit to support GPS, or you can update the firmware of the Car stereo to the latest version to support XA-NV400 (Plug-in Car Navigation Module). Yes, the car stereo will still work, but without connecting a phone via Apple Carplay or Android Auto, the unit is only capable of using the FM Radio, USB and Bluetooth playback.
