• This TV is passive 3d. I just wanted a 3d movie the other night and it looked great on this tv.

• I have to disagree with the Sony rep's answer. This TV unit uses Active 3D technology, I know because I personally own one of these TV and I bought the Passive 3D glasses, only to find out that I need Active 3D glasses in order to watch 3D footage. I think the 55" is the one that works with Passive 3D technology and the 65" model of active.
