Hi, I do not watch hockey but there is no judder or pixelation on other sports. Also no ice surface or grey banding.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hockey looks fantastic... set your motion to custom after that set smoothness to max. And cinemotion to high. All sports look great. I'm a big hockey fan and this is the best TV for hockey in my opinion. I got rid of my Samsung ks8000 because of the judder. I also said it too Vivid for their picture setting. I like the bright screen with the colors popping.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I watch alot of NHL and it looks fantastic!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not watched any hockey or football and don't use the NHL App. In movies fast motion (Like the scene at the beginning of Civil War where Black widow is taking on the mercenaries from the time she comes in and runs her motorcycle into the mercenary until Crossbones drops the grenade in the truck and locks her in) is not as smooth as my plasma, but if I hadn't had the plasma I might not know the difference. I notice judder mostly on slower motion such as pans across a screen. Sony's motion processing has various settings to assist in this but you have to find the right balance between smoothness and the Soap Opera Effect. In sports the SOE is not as distracting as movies so this may not be an issue for you. Sony has a built in preset for live sports which I tried momentarily which added a lot of pop to the image but I did not stay on sports for more than a few minutes as movies were more of my concern. I did not notice any pixilation but I think that will depend on your source and internet connection more than the television. Everything I've watched via the internal apps has looked pretty good barring differences between the apps. Netflix for instance seems to look and run better than Amazon movies. I'd suggest setting your cable box or source to pass through the original signal (no upscaling) to allow the tv to handle the upscaling. As stated in my review the image processing is quite good. I don't have that option on my Xfinity X1 box but I did notice a slight improvement when I changes the cable box output from 1080p to 1080i. I can't make any guarantees regarding hockey viewing especially via the app or any specific sports but I can say I don't think you'll find a better set at it's current price point. To get the same processing in a oled you'd have to step up to the Sony A1 which at 65" is nearly double the price of the 930. I have not had one to test or see anything other than the store display 4k material but I hear/read that the LG oleds don't compare to either unit with anything less than 4k sources. There's also an "F" series being released soon but I don't know what the price point is. Likely much more cnsidering the previous pricing of the 930e. I hope this is of some help.
