“The sound signal from the TV plays through the receiver with no problem, but when I switch to an app (Netflix,Amazon Prime, etc.) the sound signal does not pass through. I just receive the video and that's it. I'm using input 3, the (ARC) connection. ????”

Mine is hooked up this-- HDMI 1 After you push the home button on your Sony remote you need to switch your receiver from SAT/CABLE to TV. Now i have a sony tv and a sony very high end ES Professional Receiver and thats how my system works, Hope this helps.
