Maybe it would work indoors if you are using on full frame camera vs cropped. You should rent the lens first and see if it works for you.

Compared the photos taken with this lens vs a professional shooting with an f2.8, I am very happy I did not spend the extra money! Not sure how far away from the action you are, but I've got some amazing shots being close to the mats but also in the stands above the matches!
