QuestionI would like to use the TV speakers as my main speaker. Why does it automatically want to switch to external speakers and how do I stop this from happening.

- Answer Hi Molly, We regret to hear the TV automatically switches the audio output to external speakers. We'd love to help you troubleshoot your concern by isolating your sources and understanding your connections. You can isolate this issue by following the troubleshooting steps below. Make sure the sound output is set to TV speakers and not Audio system, then check the Audio system prioritization. Press the (Quick Settings), then select [Settings] — [Display & Sound] — [Audio output] — disable [Audio system prioritization]. If enabled, the message "Switching to External Speakers" will appear and this automatically switches the audio output to a BRAVIA Sync compatible external speakers it detected when the TV is powered on. - Answer Hi Al, Thanks for your inquiry. You can install this TV in a wall-mount with VESA compliance. It does have a VESA hole pitch (W x H) of 300 x 300 mm (11.81 x 11.81 inch). If you are planning to wall mount this 77" A80J, we suggest using the compatible Sony SU-WL855 wall mount bracket. For safety and product protection, we recommend that a qualified professional performs the installation of your TV on the wall. The wall must have the strength to withstand four times (six times in some models) the weight of the TV. QuestionWhat 'motion' options are there? Does it come with Smooth/Standard/Clear/True Cinema and the like? Or is it restricted to 'Motionflow' and 'Cinemotion' options like the Sony XR75X90J?

- Answer I only see cinemotion and motionflow. But I can tell you that after googling how to tweak these settings based on input sources, I have found settings that truly look great. The A80j (or a90j) threads on the avs forums are a good place to start. It did take some time but once I got it right I love it. Long story short generally set motionflow smoothness on 1, clearness on min, and cinemotion on high, you’ll be good. Cinemotion only kicks in when needed so no harm setting it high.

- Answer Hi, Calvin. Best Buy forwarded your question to me as I recently purchased the same model Sony TV that you were asking about. I have had my 77" about 2 months and have experienced no issues with burn in but then 2 months is not a real long time. Sorry but that isn't going to be very helpful for you. I also have a 65" Sony 4K OLED that was purchased about 3 years ago. That TV is typically on for 8 to 10 hours every day and we have had no issues with burn in. About a month ago, we noticed a black line that runs the length of the screen so it appears that a row of pixels is not functioning. I am in the process of exchanging that 65" TV with Best Buy. I am not certain how frequently that particular issue arises.

Please note that there is also a weight limit with any mount and the bracket that you'll be using needs to be able to support the TV weight. For the 77", it weighs approximately 63.7 lb (28.9 kg) without the stand. For product protection and safety reasons, Sony strongly recommends that installation of your TV on the wall be performed by qualified professionals. Regards, Jess

You can connect the playback devices (BD player, DirecTV, and Roku stick) to any available HDMI inputs on your TV. To enjoy high quality 4K contents, connect a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable(s) that supports speeds of 18 Gbps and set the [HDMI signal format] to [Enhanced format]. If you have a soundbar, then use an HDMI cable to connect the HDMI IN 3 (ARC/eARC) terminal on the TV to the TV OUT (ARC) terminal on the Soundbar. Sound can be output from both the headphones and a Soundbar connected to the TV at the same time by satisfying the following condition: Connect your headphones to the TV headphone jack and your Soundbar to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT port. Note: If you connect the Soundbar to the HDMI ports or through Bluetooth, the TV can't output sound from both the headphones and the Soundbar at the same time. Regards, Jess

You may see our optional Wall-Mount Bracket (SU-WL855) and the installation information on the Sony Support website at https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/. With SU-WL855, you can pull out your TV and swivel it left to right to adjust the screen angle for optimal viewing.
