3D technology has the potential to be far more superior now than at any other point in history due to 4K-UHD-BLU-RAY disc technology. 3D's past issues were that people didn't want to spend big money on 'Active 3D glasses' (battery operated), or a small minority received a headache from them. The only problem with wearing 'Passive 3D glasses' (like the kind that you find in movie theaters) is that when watching a 3D-BLU-RAY disc, each eye only sees DVD quality video. But if they were to make 4K-3D-UHD-BLU-RAY discs than each eye would see 2K quality which is double that of a standard BLU-RAY disc (i.e., SDR). The thing that I don't understand is that a TV manufacturer like Sony doesn't want to put '3D Frame Packing' on their line of Sony Master Series TV's for home theater applications. How can you call your ultimate line of TV's 'MASTER SERIES' if they don't even have 3D technology?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.3D technology isn’t supported on any newer Sony TVs and most other manufacturers have followed suit with the format not being conducive to broad support and demands of the average consumer. It’s a fabulous set tho if you don’t have to have to decide simply on a 3D display capacity.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depth of field makes 3D unnecessary.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it’s not. Most new TVs aren’t 3D that technology is dying.

However, this TV supports 3D Surround Upscaling. Our BRAVIA XR signal-processing technology enables this TV to reproduce multi-dimensional sound for a truly immersive experience. Feel the sound surround you, not only from left and right but also from a vertical dimension. With 3D Surround Upscaling, you can experience the cinematic thrills of latest audio formats such as Dolby Atmos® at home, as well as enjoying vertical surround with content not compatible with Dolby Atmos. I hope this helps! Jay
