It puts off way less heat than a plasma. Almost non existent, although any electronic will generate some.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Compared to my previous Samsung 65”, it’s significantly less. All TV’s give off some heat but surprisingly the Sony 85” is minimal. Very impressive TV!

This TV is Energy Star Certified which guarantees the TV 20-30% less energy than required by federal standards. To avoid any issues, please use the TV within its operating temperature: 0 ºC – 40 ºC / 32˚F - 104˚F. Additional information: The TV is designed with slots and openings for necessary ventilation. To ensure reliable operation and to protect it from overheating, these slots and openings must never be blocked or covered. As a general guideline, the rear of the TV should be 2 to 6 inches away from the wall and the sides of the TV should have about 4 inches of ventilation space. Never place the TV in a confined space, such as a bookcase or built-in cabinet, unless proper ventilation is provided to avoid any problems. With the BRAVIA XR X90K Full Array LED TV everything you watch becomes more detailed and immersive with true-to-life 4K picture, powered by the Cognitive Processor XR™. With immersive picture and sound, and sleek flush bezel design, be prepared to level up your favorite movies, TV shows, and games. I hope you find this information to be helpful, and thank you so much for considering Sony! - Romeo
