TV sizes are usually expressed as the diagonal measurement - from corner to corner. Hope that helps. Nothing false there.

This is an industry standard that all brands and TV follow. The 74.8” measurement for the KD-85X85J is based on the width of the TV. Hope this helps. -Romeo
