“Is the optical out tied to whatever the TV is presenting. I need this for my hearing aids. Many TVs have the optical out tied to only the cable and not the devices tied to the net”

• I use the optical out for everything and whatever input I select it works. I have the optical out working (a sound bar in my case). Choose optical out in the menu in sound settings and it will then be the default for all sound.
