Smart Android TV is a Television that is powered by Android and has a network connection that allows you to stream applications such as Netflix, YouTube, etc. Android TV also allows you to install/uninstall apps using the google play store. You don't actually need to have an Android device to use the features of this TV, however, you will likely need to have a Google account for the Google Play Store. For your iPhone, yes, you can mirror the display or stream content from your Apple devices to this Android TV using the Apple AirPlay function which will be available via a firmware update. Meaning, instead of something they developed, it’s essentially running the same software as an Android phone. Compared to my LG with proprietary software, Android TVs run better and have better app support. With an Apple device, you can cast to it. It’s got Airplay and works with Apple HomeKit too.
