“With my Roku HD, I cannot only get to streaming services, but I can play digital content stored on a 1 Terra drive that is also connected via WiFi. Does this player offer that? This would be an upgrade if it gave me all the Roku HD does plus the Blu Ray”

You can just connect the 1Tbyte external drive to the usb port on the front of the Sony S6700 and play any digital content you have. I use a 2Tbyte drive and it plays music vids, and digital movies with no problems. In fact the digital movies are upscaled to much better image quality.
