• If you have a smartphone, you can download Sony's TV Sideview app. Then you can control the device without the need of line-of-sight.

• I ended up returning mine so I cannot say what technology it is for certain, but I can tell you that it barely responds reliably even when it IS pointed directly at it, so I am positive that it won't respond if it's not even facing the device. This was when using the streaming services. I didn't use the blu ray feature.
