“I have Sony wireless headphones i use for tv. I have a Sony blu ray dvd player (bdp 56500) and tried to use headphones while watching a dvd but i cannot pick up sound. Would a cable hooked from headphone base to tv work? Headphones are wireless.”

should, they only can broadcast the feed going into them. Surprised it didn't work while the blu ray was connected to the tv. Worth a try or a problem somewhere with bad connection it sounds like
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same problem. Able to use SONY headphones with SONY TV but not with SONY Bluray. I tried all connections possible to no avail. Best buy SONY expert was no help. Finally found a solution on line from another person having same problem. I had to buy a Digital-to-Analog converter (29.99) and a coaxial Digital Audio Cable (14.99) at Best Buy. I can now use the headphones with Bluray player, only drawback is the cables must be physically reconnected when you want to switch between TV and Bluray but at least they work !
