“DVD seems to be interlaced quite badly. BR looks crystal clear. Connected to a 4k 65 inch ("Element" bought from Costco). Blu ray movies are crystal clear - I can stand a foot away from the screen and it's that clear. While I don't expect a good DVD to be like that, if 24P is set for DVD, the screen shows (when click on DISPLAY button) 4k/24p and the picture is badly interlaced. If the 24P for DVD is set to off, it doesn't happen, and the display shows just 1080p and the picture looks decent enough. Am just wondering if it's supposed to upscale a regular DVD to 4k, too, in this manner. Would love to hear from a Sony rep.”

DVD isn't made to be watched in 4K. Better not to use for this if you want clear picture. A DVD can be up-converted to 1080i /p & will look better. Only Blu Ray should be watched in 4K to maximize picture quality. Hope this helps. Sorry not a Sony rep but definitely an electronics junkie in a good way.
