Is it possible to turn off the noise cancelling? I noticed that there are three different levels for the noise cancelling, but is it possible to turn off the noise cancelling completely?

Depends on the headphones, but with these particular Sony headphones you can turn the active noise-cancelling off. Just hit the power button so the light goes off. You'll still get some noise cancellation because they're big over ear headphones though.
